PRIVATE CLIENT

We advise individuals and families on wills, estate planning, probate and the administration of estates. We understand that these matters are personal, often sensitive, and that clients need clear, considered advice they can trust. We take the time to understand each client's family circumstances, assets and wishes, and we provide guidance that is practical, tax-aware and tailored to their objectives.

Wills & Estate Planning

We draft wills and advise on estate planning, helping clients ensure that their assets pass to the right people, in the right way, at the right time. We advise on the use of trusts, lifetime gifts, powers of attorney and other arrangements designed to protect assets, provide for family members and minimise exposure to inheritance tax.

Probate & Estate Administration

We act for executors, administrators and beneficiaries in the administration of estates, including obtaining grants of probate, valuing assets, settling liabilities and distributing the estate. We understand that this process can be complex and time-consuming, particularly where estates involve multiple asset classes, business interests or family disputes.

Inheritance Tax

We advise on inheritance tax planning, including the use of reliefs, exemptions, trusts and lifetime arrangements to reduce or manage potential liabilities. We also advise executors and personal representatives on their inheritance tax obligations during the administration of an estate.

Cross-Border Estates & Succession

We have particular experience in estates with an international dimension, including where the deceased held assets in more than one jurisdiction or where questions arise about the applicable law of succession. We advise on the recognition and enforcement of foreign wills, the interaction of different legal systems and the practical steps required to administer cross-border estates efficiently.

Trusts & Lasting Powers of Attorney

We advise on the creation and administration of trusts, as well as the preparation of lasting powers of attorney for property and financial affairs and for health and welfare. These instruments can play an important role in protecting clients and their families, both during their lifetime and after death.
